Intention in Everything

Seems easy, right? Why would you do something half-assed? Full speed ahead! Charge! Put that smile on!

Are you guilting yourself right now? Have you found yourself getting lazy? Falling back into old habits…

Or maybe you haven’t given yourself some much needed and well deserved time off and self care. Running on fumes and close to empty…

Having intention in everything is one of the hardest challenges we face. And let’s be honest, it’s exhausting! Don’t beat yourself up too much. We all have our moments. We don’t have to be full speed ahead all the time; setting an intention to take a step back has its benefits too. It’s a delicate balancing act. Yoga teaches us that each person in made up of three elements – tamas, rajas, and sattva. These elements work together in every person to bring balance.

Tamas is the element or mode of Prakriti associated with lethargy, darkness, and ignorance.

Rajas is the element or mode of Prakriti associated with motion, energy, and activity.

Sattva is the element or mode of Prakriti associated with purity, wholesomeness, and virtue.

We are constantly moving through these qualities, but interestingly they are one. The practices of yoga teach us to be one – to be true to ourselves. Next time you come to your mat think about where you are pushing yourself too much or not enough. Be honest with yourself on how you might benefit from dividing up your energy. You only have so much! Remember who you are – be authentic to yourself.

The universe will take notice and smile back.

Sending love yogis.
