Growing up is a trap! I repeat: GROWING UP IS A TRAP!

I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid, I would dance to the beat of my own drum or any beat at all.  Half the time, I was pantsless doing it.  I’m not sure when it happened, but at some point, I started caring what other people would think of me if I acted playful like a kid.  About a year ago, I went to this yoga class and this teacher (hey Kerri Kelly!) had us stop in the middle of practice and had us dance around on our mats.  While it was happening, I thought to myself. “What is going on?! Why am I here?”  But then I let the music take over and started having fun with it.  She paused… the music stopped… had everyone come in close… and with the most serious voice asked, “When did we forget to do this?  At what point did we stop being playful?”  It kind of hit me like a ton of bricks.  When did I let adult-ing get in the way of being playful?  When did life get so serious all the time?

When you’re a kid, you can’t wait to be a teenager.  When you’re a teenager, you can’t wait to be an adult.  When we’re adults, sometimes we just get stuck.  I, for one, don’t want to get stuck.  So, I constantly remind myself it’s okay to be playful.  This is the one shot we get, and it doesn’t always have to be so serious.  Sometimes it’s okay to tap into your inner five-year-old.  Let go and let fun.  Be it in your everyday life or on your yoga mat, always remember to play.

See you on the mat. Much love and good vibes.
